Push and Pray

Push and Pray
By: Dr. Alice Prince
Embracing the mantra "Push and Pray" has always been at the core of our family's values, and this week it felt like a true testament to my resilience. Through the highs and lows, I have learned that this simple yet powerful philosophy not only strengthens my spirit but also guides me on my journey forward. Pushing and praying are the bricks that pave the path leading toward becoming the best version of ourselves. In fact, I firmly believe that I've implemented practical strategies that can empower anyone on their journey to be their absolute best divine self.
The Cycle of Sin
Seeking a deeper connection is an important strategy. In moments when we seek a deeper connection with our faith, it often feels as though the adversary is determined to test our faith. There's a powerful song called "Cycles," which carries a message that resonates deeply. It reminds us that the enemy is cunning and learns from our mistakes, leading us into unending cycles of hardships and sin. And, yes, cycles of the same mistakes. But remember, breaking free from these patterns is not an insurmountable challenge. It’s hard, but it can be done. It is precisely these lessons from our missteps and mistakes that pave the way for personal growth and alignment with God's will for our lives. Another strategy I use is always trying hard to align my personal growth with God’s will for my life and breaking cycles of sin.
Make Faith Your Own
The story of a young man from Omaha, Nebraska, who aspires to become a priest served as a source of inspiration for me this week. His journey emphasized a vital lesson: the importance of making faith a deeply personal and meaningful journey. He said, “make faith your own.” Those words lit my heart on fire. I go to weekly Mass. I pray multiple times a day. I take the Eucharist. I am doing all the right things, right? Well, not if those things are not permeating my heart and soul to cause real change on my journey. How do we achieve real change? It's in the way we carry our faith in our daily interactions, whether it's through a warm morning greeting, a friendly smile, or dedicated work. Our faith should shine even in moments of anger, hurt, or frustration. Faith is a personal commitment and each day as God renews our Grace and Mercy, we have a chance to make faith our own. We have a chance to renew our faith daily. My next strategy is to be intentional about renewing my faith and commitment on a daily basis.
Keep Pushing and Praying
Each day, pushing forward and seeking spiritual growth is paramount. It's not just a personal endeavor; it's a homage to the sacrifices made by our ancestors who fought for the rights we cherish today. It's a pledge to our present selves that we will relentlessly progress, undeterred by the challenges we face. Most significantly, it's a commitment to the future, where our continuous growth will lead us to the very best versions of ourselves, shaping a legacy that creates the best version of life for those who follow in our footsteps.
I wanted to share my family’s favorite bible verses.
- Philippians 4:13 (NIV) - "I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
- Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
In the spirit of "Push and Pray," let these verses be a reminder that with faith, determination, and continuous self-improvement, we can overcome any obstacle and fulfill the purpose that God has set before us.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
With hearts brimming with gratitude, we gather before you today, acknowledging the strength and resilience you've instilled in us. We cherish the guiding light of "Push and Pray," a philosophy that shapes our journey and draws us nearer to You. In moments of both triumph and tribulation, we take comfort in the knowledge that our faith empowers us to become our best selves.
Reflecting on the lessons of this week, we recognize the significance of deepening our connection with You. We seek the wisdom and strength to resist the adversary's attempts to ensnare us in cycles of sin and hardship. Lord, help us break free from these patterns and lead us towards personal growth, aligning our lives with Your divine will. Strengthen our resolve to progress unwaveringly, no matter the challenges we encounter.
We offer these prayers to You, O Lord, trusting in Your guidance and the strength You provide. In the spirit of "Push and Pray," we hold fast to the words of Philippians 4:13 "I can do all this through him who gives me strength," and Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future;" finding solace in the belief that with faith, determination, and ongoing self-improvement, we can conquer all obstacles and fulfill the purpose You've set before us.
In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.
